Entry Requirements
A good honours degree or graduate diploma.
We encourage people who have work or other related experience to apply.
International students must provide evidence of proficiency in English – IELTS 6.5 band score or a score of TOEFL at 575 or above (232 computer-based) with a TWE of 4.0 or above are appropriate.

Who is the programme for?
This programme is designed for creative social entrepreneurs, people who want to make a change to themselves and communities, deploying media for social good.
Programme content
Modules to be studied include Skills Workshops - covering Video, Audio and online skills, Defining the Digital, Engaging the Community and Creative working. Practice based learning is possible via the Community Project and Individual Social Media Project modules.
Opportunities to collaborate with Salford students from other programmes studying at MediaCityUK will provide a real working experience attractive to employers.
MediaCityUK
- In September 2011, the University will open a unique digital learning, teaching and research space at MediaCityUK. We will be located at the heart of five national BBC departments and hundreds of creative, digital and media organisations
- Industry specialists will provide ‘live’ briefs for the curriculum
- Students on this course will be well placed to take advantage of the opportunities presented by MediaCityUK

Assessment
Assessment is by a variety of workshops, essays, reports and the completion of project work.
Career progression
Students will leave this course equipped to work in a variety of institutions engaging with social media. This includes the traditional broadcasters who are gradually entering the field as well as new community and third sector organisations who need social media to work for them and their clients.
