A vibrant postgraduate culture is at the very heart of the School of Media, Music and Performance.
Integral to this is a fruitful and social dialogue between disciplines and across areas of study throughout the school, as well as shared experiences and good research practice among our diverse and talented MPhil and PhD students.
All of this enables us to offer a comprehensive and engaging year-long Graduate Programme.
We meet fortnightly for wide ranging sessions involving Salford academics and guest speakers to present on and discuss key theoretical concepts.
Our researchers are also provided a platform during these popular sessions to present their work to colleagues and co-researchers.
The Graduate Programme runs in addition to the Salford Postgraduate Research Training Programme, which imparts key researching skills.
'Practice as Research'
We integrate our postgraduates into the running of Salford conferences too, and offer encouragement and financial support for those who wish to present papers at conferences outside of the city.
Many of our postgraduate researchers incorporate ‘Practice as Research’ methodologies into their work. In addition, Salford is active in its support for a very substantial percentage of practical element or elements in final PhD submissions.
We welcome all enquiries, so whether you’re thinking of the possibilities and nature of engaging in postgraduate research, or whether you’ve a draft research proposal ready to be submitted, please get in touch.
