Matt graduated from the Slade School of Fine Art in 1988 and completed a Masters Degree in Creative Technology at the University of Salford in 1998.
After graduating from the Slade, Matt worked extensively as a freelance artist and designer, working predominately within the advertising industry.
In the early 1990's his involvement in emergent media including web development and CGI, culminated in him completing an MA in Creative Technology at the University of Salford. Having completed his masters he began a career in Higher Education; working for various institutions, including the International Centre for Digital Content and the University of Salford.
Matt joined the Media Division as a full time member of academic staff in 2004. He is a leader in the development of digital media practice within the School of Media, Music and Performance. As a Senior Lecturer in Digital Media he contributes to the teaching of: 3D Animation, web development and CGI across a broad range of media programmes.
Matt was responsible for writing the BA (Hons) Animation programme which successfully launched in 2005. He has also been programme leader of the BA (Hons) Animation and the BSc (Hons) in Computer & Video Games and he has seen many of his graduates gain successful careers within the media industry.
Matt currently holds the position of Head of Division for Media. He is involved in the strategic development of the curriculum and its continued alignment to contemporary digital practice. He is committed to the continued growth and development of the Media Division and the enhancement of its international reputation.
