Kirsty Fairclough Kirsty Fairclough is Lecturer in Media and Performance in the School of Media, Music and Performance. Kirsty gained her Masters in Screen Studies from the University of Manchester and subsequently taught Media and Film theory in both Further and Higher education in a number of institutions across the North West before joining Salford in 2005.

Kirsty's primary research interests include feminist readings of celebrity culture, gossip blogging, lifestyle/makeover and cosmetic surgery television, American independent cinema and contemporary Hollywood. The title of her PhD is Nothing Less Than Perfect: Postfeminism, Celebrity and the Makeover in Popular Culture.

Kirsty was co-organiser of the first international conference on lifestyle television, The Big Reveal: Style, Class and Industry, which was successfully held at the University in April 2007.

As a regular speaker at the Cornerhouse, Manchester, Kirsty delivers courses and talks on a range of film and media topics.

Kirsty lectures on a range of theory modules across the Media and Performance divisions including Classical Hollywood Cinema, Performance and Culture, Media Analysis, Contemporary American Cinema and Lifestyle Television.
