David joined the University of Salford in September 2010 to help deliver Online and Sports Journalism.
After graduating from Staffordshire University with a first class BA (Hons) in Cultural and Media Studies, David joined Trinity Mirror where he spent 10 years working across a variety of print titles and online platforms.
He progressed from a content development role on the Liverpool Echo and Daily Post’s websites, to an assistant editorial position with Trinity Mirror NW, working across digital platforms in Liverpool, Chester, Huddersfield and North Wales.
During this time David undertook an MA in Journalism at John Moores University whilst developing his portfolio as a sports writer. As the boxing correspondent for the Liverpool Daily Post, he also became the Merseyside correspondent for national magazine, Boxing News.
With a passion for football and, in particular, Liverpool Football Club, David then landed a dream role as a sportswriter for the club, working across a range of official titles including the LFC Weekly magazine and This is Anfield matchday programme.
From here he moved to the Liverpool Echo sportsdesk as a multi-media sports reporter, covering both Liverpool and Everton Football Clubs, and other sports on Merseyside.
David has reported in both print and online from some of the biggest events on the sporting calendar, including the 2005 and 2007 Champions League finals, FA Cup and League Cup finals, The Grand National, The Open Golf Championship, and from ringside at world title boxing contests.
Freelance commissions include Sky Sports Magazine, The Daily Mail, Press Association, The Kop magazine, The Evertonian magazine, Liverpoolfctv, BBC Radio Merseyside, plus contributions to a range of books including Liverpool Secrets: Behind the Shankly Gates; The Real Bill Shankly; I Come from the Spion Kop.
