• Dr Carole O'Reilly has been invited to join English Heritage’s National Review of Research Priorities for Urban Parks, Designed Landscapes and Open Spaces as one of two academic consultants. The project, running until August 2013, aims to identify the research needs of those engaged in the conservation and management of such sites.
• Anthony Burgess and Cinema film season at Cornerhouse, Manchester, 11-30 June, is curated by Dr Andy Willis, part of the IABF conference events this month.
• Congratulations to Dr Michael Goddard on his appointment as co-editor of the journal Studies in Eastern European Cinema.
• 6th International Comedy Conference: Drawing The Line - Comics, Comedy & Comics. University of Salford / MMU, May 31-June 1 (Dr Chris Lee).

Welcome to the Communication, Cultural & Media Studies (CCM) Research Centre at the University of Salford. CCM is one of the largest research centres dedicated to media work in the UK, with 24 academic members, and approaching 50 current MPhil / PhD students from around the world.

'World-leading' research

According to RAE 2008, 90% of CCM research is of international standard, of which 15% is evaluated as 'world-leading'. We are also the leading media research group in the northwest of England and ranked 13th in the UK.

Media activity thrives at Salford, in terms of undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, our industry links and public engagement work, as well as our research. Now based at MediaCityUK we are outstandingly placed to continue making a leading contribution to the development of academic research in the media and creative economy.

CCM aims to raise the profile of existing research and facilitate new projects between film and media studies, cultural studies, digital media, and practice. The centre moves across the school boundaries of the university generating a dynamic multi-disciplinary research culture. Our academic members and postgraduate students produce high quality research, and energetically engage and collaborate with regional communities, national media industries and international research networks. 

As our Projects page and links show, our grant proposals are regularly reviewed as of the very highest quality and therefore funded by national and international research councils. And do take a look at our Publications page, which contains details of well over 60 major outputs in the form of books, films, radio documentaries, as well as open access links to over 200 outputs on the university's institutional repository.
